Remote web cam setup
These photos are remotely taken with a $99 Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000 (http://www.logitech.com) with software-based remote digital zoom/pan/tilt. This digital zoom/pan/tilt feature comes from the "driver" portion of the bundled Logitech software. The photos are taken remotely with the Web Cam software by a choice of automatic or manual methods. The $24 Vision GS BE v1.30 (http://www.visiongs.de, shareware version also ava) is the web cam software used because it does NOT require a paid subscription to an on-line web cam or video service. The bundled software from Logitech does! All Vision GS PE v1.30 needs is a standard FTP server for a web site.

It is protected from the elements by being housed in what looks like a small birdhouse. It's not designed as an outdoor camera but it has held up fine in humid, windy, and cold (13F) conditions. The camera is placed 10" from the peanut-filled Woodpecker Feeder.

A total of three $29, 16', USB repeaters (AKA: USB Boosters from IOGEAR) are used to connect to the outdoor camera from my PC. The outdoor segment of USB cable is buried and links to the camera's USB cable in a junction box. The USB repeaters pass through a hole in my masonry basement wall.
