Red-headed Woodpecker with peanut halve Red-headed Woodpecker with peanut halve. On 4/20/2003, a Red-headed Woodpecker started investigating the feeder so the cam was turned back on. This rare bird was afraid to eat from it though.

On May 2, the slippery part of the feeder where the Red-headed Woodpecker always clings to was roughened so it could cling to it easier. A small hole leading to the peanuts inside was also added. It worked!: As a result, the woodpecker was enticed into using the main food port. I was then able to get better photos. Last seen on May 7.
