Woodpecker Camera (includes other climbing cavity-nesters)
Photos by John C in Dickerson, MD 2002/2003
(Cam status)
On May 2, the slippery part of the feeder where the
Red-headed Woodpecker always clings to
was roughened so it could cling to it easier. A small hole leading to the peanuts inside
was also added. It worked!: As a result, the woodpecker
was enticed into using the main food port.
I was then able to get better photos.

Red-headed Woodpecker with peanut halve. On 4/20/2003, a Red-headed Woodpecker
started investigating the feeder so the cam was turned back on.
This rare bird was afraid to eat from it though.
