9th Kestrel nest box site

ABOVE: LEFT: 9th Kestrel Falcon nest box, mounted on April 14, 2002 on an open plain. I'm grateful that the property owners in Berkley Springs, WV permitted me to do this. It is 10' high at the entrance, has an exterior aluminum perch, and faces south. The roof, floor, and walls are made of white PVC. Also shown are the inside perches and placement process. This rural back yard was chosen because Kestrels were often seen there by the tennant. As I approached and left the site, a Kestrel was hovering in a nearby field. Screech Owls could also use it...they have been heard on the property.
