Flying Squirrel house #9
ABOVE: Photos of Flying Squirrel house #9, which was placed on a Hickory Tree in late summer, 2003. This is my largest Flyer box and contains the largest nest I've ever seen. It is at the end of the property next to a large wooded area, is about 80' from Flyer box #7, and faces SW. It was originally a bird roost that was seldom if ever used by birds. With the box open, 2 Flyers, the tail of one, and the ear tips of another can be seen on the right photo frame. All photos taken on Feb 29, 2004.

Monitoring notes:
Late summer 2003 Mounted nest box.
Mid fall 2003 No apparent activity yet.
2/7/2004 Urine stains on bottom of box.
2/29/2004 Several Flyers in box.
