Flying Squirrel house #7
ABOVE: 5/11/2003 photo of Flying Squirrel house #7,
which was placed here a few months earlier.
It is on a lone White Oak that is 40' from the nearest large trees. On June 1, 2003, a Flyer poked
its head out a few times in the early evening while it was still light out.
I see new signs of the Flyer usage every 1-2 weeks (as of June 20).
There is fur, droppings, and fine-stranded fungus inside the box on the floor. I'm not completely
sure whether the fuzzy material is fur or fungus or both.
Box #4 had the same in it as well as some nest material before birds
began using it.
