| Overall notes:
Have not checked it as of 5/24/2003 due to territorial cattle not letting me
get near it. 6/20 I suspect eggs or babies in the nest box again, and I never cleaned it!

5/27 |
5/31[?], 3 eggs on 6/2 |
4 babies on 6/20 |
4 on 7/4 |
Overall notes:
LEFT: 3 eggs on 6/2/02.
The nest was deep and came to about 3 1/2" below the entrance. The white top was cool just before noon in the direct sun.
House Sparrows claimed it in 2001 and 2002 so it was lowered,
now uses a smaller inside width: 4", and went from wood to PVC.
After mounting it, House Sparrows were afraid of to enter or land on it.
This PVC plan is the 3rd box design version on this site post.
Even the roof and floor are made of 1/2" PVC board.
The screws, post, and bolts are all galvanized steel.
Within 3 hrs, a male Bluebird was putting grass in it and the female kept entering/exiting it.
Another pair of Bluebirds fought for it later the same day.
On 6/20 the 4 babies were yellowish and looked malnourished.
I think the parents (or mother) of this brood are the same ones that just raised an unhealthy
brood in Box #6 a few weeks earlier.
On 7/3 a baby came partially out of the entrance but went back in. On 7/6 when cleaning out the nest,
there were blowfly capsules and lots of Mulberry or Blackberry seeds in it.

5/27, 2 eggs |
6/20 5 large babies |
6/23 |
Overall notes:
Crow landed on the box twice on 5/27 and a Tree Swallow as well as some other birds chased it away.
I saw this from a distance.
2 Tree Swallow eggs on 5/27. The nest was very small. On 6/2 the nest was much larger and there might be 2 eggs in it
and maybe one baby...it was too windy to look and I didn't want the wind to cool the eggs. On 6/20 there were 5 babies
that were probably a few days away from fledging. 4 Adult Tree Swallows were guarding the nest box.
You can see the eye to the left of the #1 on one of them and just left of the eyes,
you can see a little white mouth.
